Spring Power

Our latest instalment of what we’re wanting to wear this Spring is a little later than anticipated, but in true British style, there hasn’t exactly been the weather for Spring Power Dressing. Now that warmer forecasts are on the horizon, we thought a timely round up of all the pieces we’re coveting for the next couple of months, whilst it heats up is about right. As expected, trench coats adorn the edit, but this time a new jacket enters the game, the windbreaker. Inspired as always, by The Row. Red is a strong player in this season’s colour palette and an open toe shoe from a wedge to a jelly shoe is going to be your go-to from day to night as the evenings draw warmer.

Slogan Tee’s are first up and although nothing particularly makes them coded to Spring, they’re a perfect layering piece, underneath your jacket, if you want something other than a plain t-shirt. Sometimes, there is something invigorating about wearing a slogan tee, whether its a emblazoned with a bold or outrageous slogan or motif, there’s something sexy and playful about having teasing whats underneath when layered under a jacket. I also love the idea that a a somewhat casual t-shirt like this, can look super elevated when paired with tailored black or grey trousers. Let alone with a pair of thong wedges to head over to after work drinks. There are plenty around too, in this round up, we’ve included the brilliant as ever Cowboys of Habit Agree 2 Disagree Tee, which I’m so tempted to buy and as always, like I would ever need an excuse for a public declaration of love to Phoebe Philo than to wear a t-shirt sprawled with her name on it. We’ve also included another favourite brand of ours Bettter Us and their iconic MOTHER tee, with shoulder pads, because so many of our friends are becoming Mother’s and hot ones too, what a better statement than that.

If you’re anything like us and are so sick of trainers these days (bold statement from our side, but it’s true, it’s how we feel) then fear not. We have rounded up the shoes that we want to be wearing, when not going to the gym or working out. We may not get anywhere fast in these, but we’d much prefer to be wearing these than the same rotation of sneakers, every next person seems to be wearing around us. Firstly, these Mango wedges, have somehow been taken out of my brain for the past three summers and mortalised and brought to life. I bought them, and i’ve tried them on with jeans, skirts, suit pants and leggings and they fucking mega with them all. Secondly. we may have harped on about jelly shoes last Summer but we’re still obsessed. This year, we want them in red. The ultimate men repeller. Below pictured from Senso. Lastly, the humble flip flop, can it ever do any wrong? This year, for Spring, we’re trading in our trust black ones for a softer brown, paired with… well frankly everything, right into Summer.

It wouldn’t be Spring without a trench coat, so naturally, we have to include them in this edit. However, rather than the obligatory beige trench, we’re drawn to a full white look this Spring, a composition that can be transitioned into Summer, with less layers. We’re obsessing over this seersucker version from Source Unknown, lightweight and crisp - perfect. Styled with an all-white look underneath is a super chic way to put an easy outfit together. If white isn’t your thing, and you prefer to not constantly avoid spilling your evening drinks on your white look, we’ve included this khaki take from & Other Stories, better yet it’s in the sale. Paired with some flip flops, some loose trousering and a tank, you’ll be set for your walk to work. if you’ve not noticed yet, we’re into red, massively. So much so, that as I write this, I’ve just come back from purchasing these Red Drawstring Trousers from M&S we’re really threading this into our wardrobe this season and no, it’s not just because we saw accents of Red at The Row’s peppered throughout their Spring Summer 2025 lookbook, does not mean we’ve been heavily influenced…. perhaps a little (hence the below Marty Windbreaker, which is actually mens and also sold out everywhere) But it just seems to be a firm favourite for those who prefer a more minimal colour palette, as it’s the best way to inject a bit of colour, without going for a butter yellow, or a lilac which are both gorgeous and are everywhere currently, but red is more of a classic colour and one you can easily return to.

I’d be interested to hear from anyone else that prefers buying bottoms, over tops. This seems to be my case anyway, I find it easier and preferable to shop for the bottom half, over the top. It’s probably because other than a shirt, I’m relatively boring up top. I like to keep it simple with a tee or a tank. I’m not entirely sure why this is the case, but when you have the option of wearing a pale pink pair of jeans, pictured below from Phoebe Philo, you’ll likely want to keep it minimal up top. Phoebe isn’t the only one doing candy coloured jeans this season, Jonathan Anderson did it at Loewe too, with an unreal barrel leg fit, but if those price points don’t tickle your pink, COS have done a more affordable pair, but as expected, the dupes are selling out. I’m more of a trousers girl, but I am partial to a skirt in the summer, mini, midi or long, I’m open and this lace-trim (which is very popular now on skirts, dresses and top) is one we have our eye on from Massimo Dutti. Paired with our Mango wedges in the evening or flip flops during the day, it’s a guarantee staple over the next few months. Lastly, the brown Carpenter Trousers from from LESET, we are gassing over. Just look at the fit and shape of them, they are calling out as the perfect Spring throw-on trouser, giving such ease and comfort and they also do them in Neptune if you’re feeling a little more bolder (click and be obsessed with the colour, trust.)

We’ve not included bags in this Spring round up, we decided we’re going to hold out for Summer to put our picks in for those, because we’re likely still lugging round our token bags until we can transition over to a big summer bag - recommendations pending in their plenty. To finish up, our Spring looks, we’ve included some accessories that can add a powerful touch to our looks. This key necklace from Mango, is drawing us in as a fun alternative to stone pendants which will soon be the focus of our Summer necks. If you were that cool, you’d get your own key and pop it on a chain, don’t @ us if you see us rocking our house hey on a pendant, we’ll try anything once. Following on, we came across these sporty but vintage looking sunglasses on Etsy, we’re liking the idea of wearing these with a smarter, or dressier look for a more chic vibe. Again, we’re obsessed with contrasting themes. Last but absolutely not least, this Magda Butrym crochet Bandana - not like we ever need an excuse to want to be a Magda girl but this, round our necks with a plain black tee and jeans is giving so Spring coded, recently styled by Claire Rose, with her leather jacket too, is just a stunning an example of mixing clashing materials. Make this your one investment if nothing else, we’ll be wearing as a headscarf on holiday, in no time.

A round up of those who continue to do no wrong, and who are embodying the Spring Power looks in all their glory.

So as we conclude up our Spring Power edit, we look ahead to what we’ll be taking through to our Summer wardrobes. It’s never easy dressing for Summer in the UK, or so that’s a sentiment we hold, as the weather is so unpredictable and seems to hit differently abroad, but fear not, we’re already building the foundations for a staple, yet exciting Summer season. Circling back super soon…
